2 Pkgs. Active Dry Yeast
6 Cups All Purpose Flour
1 Tablespoon White Sugar
2 Teaspoons Salt
2 Cups Milk
¼ Teaspoon Baking Soda
½ Cup Water
Cornmeal

Directions:

In a large bowl combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda. In a small pot heat the milk and water to (120° - 130°). Add the liquid to the dry ingredients and beat well with an electric mixer. Stir in the remaining 3 cups of flour to make a stiff batter.

Grease two 8 ½” x 4 ½” bread pans. Next sprinkle cornmeal into greased pans, lightly coating bottom and sides. Spoon the batter into the pans, dividing it equally. Sprinkle cornmeal on top of loaves. Cover and let rise for 45 minutes in a warm place.

Bake at 400° for 25 minutes, until golden. Remove from pans immediately and cool on a wire wrack.

Notes:
